The list below highlights our membership benefits. In addition, members receive networking opportunities with perennial professionals around the nation. Perennial Plant of the Year™This renowned program promotes the use of perennials through the selection of an outstanding perennial each year by the voting membership. Posters and flyers are created every year for use by retailers or to be distributed by wholesalers. They are available from the PPA office. Symposium and Trade ShowWell-known perennial specialists speak on aspects of perennials, ranging from production to design. Tours of notable nurseries, retailers, and gardens are held in conjunction with the program. Workshops and seminars provide information about production, retail, design, business management, and related areas. June is Perennial Gardening Month™Extend the sales season with PPA posters, postcards, flyers, and banners that let the gardeners know what can happen in the perennial scene after the first rush of spring. Landscape Design AwardsThis program recognizes projects of landscape architects, designers, and contractors that are exemplary in the use of herbaceous perennials. Membership DirectoryThe membership directory is available online for members-only access. The directory facilitates communication and networking among the industry. The Membership Directory is also available to be printed by request. The PPA JournalThe PPA Journal, Perennial Plants, is published quarterly. It contains informative articles about research, propagation, new plant introductions, retailing, marketing, business issues, announcements and membership information. You can also advertise your business in the journal. NewsletterThe PPA News is published six times per year to keep members informed of current events within the organization and the perennial industry. PPA News is posted on the PPA website. Regional MeetingsHeld in various regions to bring together smaller groups of members to discuss regional issues and topics. Scholarship ProgramScholarships are awarded to undergraduate students who are interested in perennials. Scholarships are provided to improve the quality of the future of the industry. Speakers BureauMembers of PPA may post their credential on the website for the speakers bureau. The public has access to the listings so that they may find just the correct speaker for their needs. Job BoardThe PPA invites members to post employment opportunities. Those seeking positions may post their credentials as they seek employment. Standards ManualThis manual offers standard sizes of perennial plants and pots for use by nurseries, landscapers, educators, designers, and the public. A code of ethics is included. |
