1996 Perennial Plant of the Year

Hardiness: USDA Zones 3-8

Light: Full sun preferred.

Soil: Well-drained garden soils.

Uses: Accent plant, massed in borders, or as a specimen.

Unique Qualities: Rich bronze-red foliage accents provide a particularly striking contrast to masses of white flowers. Besides its attributes as a landscape plant, Penstemon is also a good cut flower and performs well in dry soils.

Planting Information: Bare root plants are best planted in early spring; potted plants should be set at the same depth as they were in the pot. Plant from spring until one month before a hard killing frost.

Propagation: The best way to propagate 'Husker Red' is either by division or from cuttings.
